Getting prepared for surgery is not typically an everyday occurrence. Therefore, many of us have not had experience with what preparation for and recovery from surgery includes. 

Our medical system  is not designed to give patients preventative information so you may be left in the dark about what to expect and what to do to prepare. 

So, despite being an expert in your own field, the idea that you can participate and optimize yourself for surgery and the recovery to follow may not be a familiar topic. 

That is where this course comes in! Let me share my expertise in what surgery means and how to use integrative techniques to help you get ready.

Using the fundamentals of integrative medicine you can optimize your physical, emotional, and nutritional readiness.

The first part of the program is to evaluate where you are. Reflection into your sleep patterns and how you manage stress is important to evaluate how you are going to help your body heal.

The nutrition and fuel you give your body is influenced by many things including time, budget, and cultural influences. 

Community and social support influence our stress levels and therefore our ability to heal. 

Mindset is really important in how we perceive everyday stress. It can be beneficial in how we prepare for a stressful situation as well. 

Surgery can be very unfamiliar and generate anxiety. Having skills to help cope with the anxiety can decrease the stress that your body feels and improves your ability to heal. 

Near and dear to my heart, movement can overlap into social support, mindset, and physical preparation. 

All of these are included in the programs to look at wellness and preparation as a whole.

I am an orthopedic surgeon and mom of three! I realized that conventional medicine may not be enough to help us heal.
